18 Christmas trees stolen from N. Ind. preserve

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - A youth and nature preserve in northern Indiana that sells Christmas trees as a fundraiser says someone stole 18 trees that sell for $20 each.

The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/19fskEs ) the trees were stolen from The Res in Mishawaka after the first day of sales Nov. 30. Board President Peg VanNevel says official believe someone with a large truck went to the nature preserve and stole the trees so they could be resold.

She says the Res gets the trees from a nearby campground at a low price.

VanNevel says in previous years one or two trees have been reported missing.
