INDIANAPOLIS - Police are investigating the theft of nearly $1 million worth of jewelry and a high-priced rifle from an Indianapolis home.

Officers were called to a home at 4525 Cold Spring Road on Jan. 23 on a report of a burglary.

Police said sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. that day, someone forced their way into the home through a back door.

Two men from out of town were staying at the home, owned by their brother and his wife, when the burglary happened. 

The men told police they had gone out to clean their recently deceased mother's home and returned to find the house ransacked.

An antique .348-caliber Winchester lever-action rifle worth $10,000 and several pieces of unique jewelry worth $750,000 to $1 million were stolen.

Police said the missing jewelry includes:

-Ladies custom 9MM diamond bracelet. Bracelet measures 7 inches in length, 19 square cushion links, and is secured by a figure eight safety. Each link features one or two flush set diamonds, total of 24 round brilliant diamonds. Value $25,360.00.

-Ladies 18K white gold and yellow gold link bracelet containing 84 full cut diamonds total 3.08cts all diamonds of internally flawless clarity and D-E color. Value $23,354.

-One ladies 18K yellow gold Van Cleef and Arpels watch with detachable 18K yellow gold bracelet and bezel containing 99.02CT diamonds, model #18641B3. Value $ 36,989.

-Gents 18K yellow gold and stainless steel Ebel chronograph watch with a stainless steel and 18K yellow gold sport link bracelet. Value $10,444.

-LDS Breitling watch – stainless steel and rose gold band with diamond dial and pearl face. Value $11,907.

-LDS Palladium ring containing 10 oval diamonds totaling 1.54cts and 18 round brilliant cut nail set diamonds .20CTW, D color and VS clarity. Value $10,750.

-Ladies 14K white gold pinch prong bands containing 9 diamonds equaling 1.31cts, F-G color, VS2 clarity, rounded undercarriages, solid shanks made to stack with other bands in the set, size 6.5. Value $8,202.

-Ladies 14K white gold pinch prong bands containing 7 diamonds equaling 1.88cts, F-G color, VS2 clarity, rounded undercarriages, solid shanks made to stack with other bands in the set, size 6.6. Value $12,330.

-Ladies 14K white gold pinch prong bands containing 9 diamonds equaling 1.377cts, F-G color, VS2 clarity, rounded undercarriages, solid shanks made to stack with other bands in the set, size 6.5. Value $8,465.

Police are asking pawn shops, gold buyers and jewelers to be on the lookout for the pieces. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.

Gary Thrapp, a local jeweler, suggested anyone with valuable jewelry in their home should have two vaults -- one for the valuables and another for costume jewelry.
