ANDERSON, Ind. - Anderson police were involved in a shooting Saturday morning, officials said.
Dustin Anderson, 32, was shot once by police in the 2700 block of Fountain Street after he drove toward officers in his vehicle just after 1:20 a.m., police said.
Police said they were searching a garage at that location for a suspect involved in a separate incident involving a burglary and domestic battery.
When officers attempted to make contact with those inside the garage, they could detect an odor associated with making methamphetamine.
Police said when they tried to make contact with Anderson, he drove his car through the garage door toward officers surrounding the building, and knocked one to the ground.
Consequently, another officer in the line of Anderson’s vehicle fired shots at the car, and struck Anderson once in the left side, officials said.
His car came to a stop and Anderson was transported to Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis in stable condition.
Police said officers from the Madison County Drug Taskforce processed the garage, which had been used as a lab to make meth.
Krista Stansberry, 31, was with Anderson when he attempted to flee from the police.
Officials said she was arrested in connection with manufacturing meth.
Anderson was arrested on charges of manufacturing meth and criminal recklessness, police said.
He will be booked into the Madison County Detention Center after he is released from the hospital.
