Two people have died in a fiery crash on the city's northeast side Friday morning.

Police say the crash began as a domestic disturbance call as they received a call that a woman's boyfriend was threatening her with a knife around 3 a.m. The caller said the boyfriend was sitting a a red Saturn.

When an officer arrived at the scene, he saw a car matching the description of the boyfriend's car take off from the house. The people at the house pointed and signaled at the officer, letting him know that was the boyfriend's car.

The officer followed the car to Arlington Avenue Staughton Drive, where it lost control and hit a utility pole -- catching fire, police say. The officer got out of his car and attempted to go up the the crashed car, but it was too engulfed in fire to approach.

Accident investigators are working to determine how fast the car was going. The road was shut down until around 7 a.m.
