2 injured after semi crashes into restaurant

DUGGER, Ind. - Two diners were injured Tuesday when a semi-truck crashed into a southwestern Indiana restaurant.

Indiana State Police said a 2002 Kenworth tractor was traveling southbound on State Road 159 in Dugger at 10:38 a.m. Tuesday when it suddenly veered to the right. The truck left the roadway and crashed into the Coal Miner Café.

Two restaurant patients were injured in the crash: Madge Booker, 81, of Sullivan, and Gloria Bixler, 66, of Dugger. Both were taken to Sullivan County Community Hospital for complaints of pain.

Police said the driver of the truck, 63-year-old Gary Nash of Sullivan, may have had a medical episode which contributed to the crash. He was not cited, and police said drugs and alcohol were not involved.
