2 killed, 3 injured in Henry Co. crash

HENRY COUNTY, Ind. - Two people were killed and three others were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Henry County on Tuesday evening.
Officials said the incident happened near the intersection of County Road 825 North and Mechanicsburg Road around 5:30 p.m.
Police arrived to the scene and found both vehicles in a small field off of the intersection.
The driver of the first vehicle, Leandra Penn, suffered a broken right leg and a fractured arm, police said. She was taken to Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
Two of the four occupants in the second vehicle were ejected from the car and found lying next to the first vehicle, officials said.
They were identified as Cheyanna Ball and Clifton Shane Thompson.
Ball was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson with serious injuries, and then later taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Thompson, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The two other people inside the second vehicle were identified as Caroline Bateman and Isaiah Stone.
Bateman, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Stone, the driver of the second vehicle, was taken to St. Vincent in Anderson and then later to St. Vincent in Indianapolis with critical injuries.
Henry County Sheriff Butch Baker said there was not any rain at the time of the crash.
Blood samples were taken from both drivers and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
