INDIANAPOLIS - Two more people are being charged in the death of a woman found fatally shot in a Hancock County field.
Joe Meyers, 39, and Ronnie Westbrook, 26, have both been charged with murder and kidnapping in the death of 23-year-old Katrina Miller , court documents said.
A third suspect -- Amanda Gonzales, 27 -- was arrested Monday and is facing the same charges.
The Hancock County Sheriff's Office said Miller’s body was found near county roads 800 West and 350 North, just west of the Indianapolis Regional Airport, around 8:30 p.m. last Thursday. The Marion County coroner confirmed Miller died of a gunshot wound to the head.
The incident allegedly stemmed from drugs believed to have been stolen from a motel room, according to court documents.
Court documents said Gonzales told an acquaintance that she, Miller, Meyers and Westbrook drove to the cornfield and made Miller get down on her knees before Meyers shot Miller in the back of the neck.
Gonzales told the acquaintance that they did it because drugs were missing from Westbrook’s room, according to court documents. Westbrook threatened to kill Gonzales and Miller if he didn’t get the drugs back, court documents said.
Gonzales told the acquaintance that when they got back from the cornfield, Westbrook found the drugs in his room, according to court documents.
The acquaintance told police she believed Gonzales hid the drugs because she found Miller and Westbrook in bed together, court documents said.
At least two other people interviewed by police said Gonzales told them similar stories.
Police recovered guns and bullets from Meyers' room and vehicle on July 26 and July 27.
