MUNCIE, Ind. - Two women are accused of beating a pregnant teenager in the middle of a Muncie street.
Ashley Sue Smith, 19, and Olivia Marie Daniel-Smith, 20, each face a preliminary charge of battery to a pregnant female causing bodily injury, a Class C felony, the Star Press reported.
The victim told police she received a text message Friday asking her to come to a home near West 10th Street and South Rochester Avenue.
When she arrived, a third person got into her car and took her keys, while Smith and Daniel-Smith pulled her from the vehicle by her legs and beat her in the middle of the street, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Police said the victim suffered multiple facial injuries, including a possible broken nose and two black eyes, along with bruises all over her body.
According to the affidavit, Smith told officers she was mad at the victim because she believed she had called Child Protective Services on her.
Smith denied hitting the victim, while Daniel-Smith admitted to being the main aggressor, police said.
Both women said they didn't know the victim was pregnant at the time.
Police are looking for a third person in connection with the assault. Smith and Daniel-Smith are being held at the Delaware County Jail.
