INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis Public Schools bus was involved in an accident on the city’s southwest side Friday afternoon.
The crash happened on the Sam Jones Expressway at the Bradbury Avenue exit near Interstate 70 around 4:30 p.m.
Police said no students were on the bus at the time of the wreck. The driver and a bus attendant were aboard and were treated at the scene.
Police said the bus had stopped at railroad tracks when another vehicle did not stop and slammed into the back of the bus going more than 40 mph.
The driver of that vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to Eskenazi Health, officials said.
Police prevented traffic from entering the Sam Jones Expressway eastbound from I-70 and Interstate 465 until the accident scene had been cleared.
