SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. -- Three people, including two children were killed in a crash Saturday evening in southern Indiana.

The crash happened around 7:45 p.m., on State Road 203 in Lexington, Indiana.

Police say a white 2002 Kia Spectra was driving northbound, approaching a curve in the road at the same time a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck was approaching the same curve traveling southbound.

The Kia Spectra then crossed into the truck's path and the vehicles crashed head-on.

The Kia Spectra was driven by Alfonzo Qualls, 36. He had five passengers in the vehicle, all under the age of 11. Two of them, Mariah Qualls, 8 and Kaden A. Pedigo, 10, were killed in the crash. The other three children, including one infant, suffered life-threatening injuries, police say.

The driver of the truck, Jacob Pettit, 21, and the passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police don't believe anybody in the Spectra was wearing a seatbelt. The infant was in a car seat at the time of the crash, but it was not properly secured in the car.

Police say Alfonso Wualls had a suspended driver's license.
