ROACHDALE, Ind. - Authorities say three people were killed in an early morning mobile home fire in a small town about 40 miles west of Indianapolis.
The Roachdale Fire Department received a call about a house fire about 6 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of East Railroad Street.
Firefighters found three victims, a man and two women, inside. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims were identified as 74-year-old Charlene Wiggins and her two adult children -- daughter Susan Wiggins and son Bobby Wiggins.
"Once you get a small mobile home like that, it doesn't take long for it to engulf and fully involved structure, so there was nothing they could do to save the victims inside," said Mike Mahoy, chief of Roachdale Police.
Mahoy said the Wiggins family were lifelong residents of his town and will leave behind memories, especially Bobby.
"He's so different, even my 10-year-old son was home today grieving the loss of him, because he was just that kind of person he'd make you laugh, smile no matter what," Mahoy said.
Daniel Asher said he'll remember Bobby as a nice guy.
"They were good people, you know. The friend of the friend of the one I went to school with, the friend of mine, he'd help anybody. He was just a real nice guy," said friend and landlord Daniel Asher.
Asher owns the mobile home that caught fire. He was renting it to the Wiggins family after a previous brush with fire.
"Actually, it was about a year ago, their other home caught fire on west end," Mahoy said. "No one was home at the time."
The Putnam County Sheriff's Department said foul play is not suspected.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Mahoy said it might have been an electrical fire.
