INDIANAPOLIS - Three people were hospitalized after a crash involving at least three vehicles on Indianapolis' east side Monday morning.
The crash was reported just before 9 a.m. near the intersection of 21st Street and Shadeland Avenue when a pickup truck heading south on Shadeland Avenue ran a red light, Indianapolis Fire Department spokeswoman Rita Burris said.
A driver in a SUV who was eastbound with the green light crashed into the pickup truck. The pickup truck then hit another car stopped at the light which was facing north, Burris said.
Doris Pinex was a passenger in the SUV.
"We were coming down 21st Street. (The pickup truck) was going down Shadeland and he just kept going through the red light and there was a police (officer) right behind him," Pinex said.
A police officer witnessed the crash.
The people in the SUV were not injured.
