4 places to shop on Small Business Saturday in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS – Sure you caught the sales at the big chain stores Black Friday, but what about the small businesses? This Saturday is dedicated to supporting small businesses in your community.

Small Business Saturday was started in 2010 by American Express and aims to highlight those businesses that keep the economy thriving.

Ready to shop small today?

Here are four Shop Small events in Indianapolis. If you don't see any events in your area, simply visit your favorite small business and browse their selections. You may find the perfect holiday gift. 

Shop small this Saturday

For the seventh year, Mass Ave will host a shopping event where local stores will showcase their best items and sales from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m.

The Broad Ripple community is home to over 700 small businesses and you’ll get a chance to shop with some of them during the village’s Small Business Saturday event beginning at 10 a.m. Special this year are six pop-up shops that will feature over 60 artisans and small businesses. Destinations are scattered throughout the Village, so make your first stop the Broad Ripple Village Association’s office at 6323 Guilford Avenue, to pick up a map.

You can help support local businesses this weekend by shopping at Indiana Originals’ Holiday Expo & Marketplace this Saturday. The event, held at Emmis Communications, will showcase some of the best products made by Hoosiers and best of all, it’s free to attend. Participating vendors including: James Scott Apparel, Choc-Ola, Vino Mobile Bar, PortalUnlimited, Inspired Woodcrafts, The Rugged Company, Hot Heads Pepper Store and more. Also, if you’re wondering when you’re going to find time to tell Santa what’s on your wishlist, you can take your photo at the event as well.

The Indianapolis Chapter of Indiana Black Expo and Jael LLC are hosting The Small Business Saturday Women & Minority Small Business Market to encourage holiday shoppers to patronize local women and minority small businesses. This is a way for small business who do not have a store front to showcase their products and gain holiday customers. The event is free to attend and takes place at the Basile Opera Center from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
