5-year-old boy finds man's body at former Columbus car lot

Foul play not suspected

COLUMBUS, Ind. - A 5-year-old boy spotted a man's body inside a building at a former car lot, police said.

Columbus police Lt. Matt Myers said the boy was playing Sunday at the former Wright's Auto Sales location when he looked inside the building and saw a body face down on the floor.

The boy's parents called police, who had to have firefighters pry open the door that had been locked from the inside.

Myers told The Republic that the 59-year-old man appears to have been dead for some time and that foul play wasn't suspected.

Myers said the man's identity has been confirmed but wasn't being immediately released.
