KENTLAND, Ind. -
A northwest Indiana man faces attempted murder charges after police say he stabbed an 8-year-old boy multiple times.
Kentland police officers were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of North Sixth Street Tuesday on reports of a stabbing.
When police arrived, they were confronted by Thomas Esmond, 66, who tried to attack the officers, but he was soon subdued by a Taser gun, police said.
The 8-year-old boy was taken to Iroquois Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Detectives said the motive behind the stabbing remained under investigation.
Esmond was booked into the Newton County jail and held without bail.
