INDIANAPOLIS - Officials said a nearly 75-year-old water main broke Saturday morning, causing massive flooding and shutting down all lanes of a busy street in Indianapolis.
Citizens Energy Group spokesman Dan Considine said at roughly 10:40 a.m. that all lanes of East 38th Street were closed between Dearborn and North Olney streets.
Officials said the street will be closed for several hours as crews repair the aging water main and the street. The street's structure was affected by the burst main. Considine said the water main is 74 years old.
RTV6's Matt Trees was on the scene and said it was the worst water main break he's ever seen, with water shooting high in the air out of the ground, flooding the roadway and gushing down the street.
