INDIANAPOLIS - Several Indiana counties reported disruptions to their 911 emergency communications systems Wednesday morning.
The affected counties included Johnson and Morgan. Madison, Hamilton, Boone and Shelby counties were disrupted, but restored about three hours later.
During the disruption, 911 calls were rerouted to nearby dispatch centers as crews worked to restore the phone lines. Morgan County residents needing help with an emergency were directed to call 765-342-5544.
Officials said that a possible problem with the phone software could have caused the outage.
