INDIANAPOLIS -- Amy Beverland Elementary announced Monday night the man who will take over for former principal Susan Jordan, who was killed by a school bus in January.

Jered Pennington will take over for Jordan, who was honored Monday with the state's highest honor, the Sagamore of the Wabash, for pushing children out of the way of the bus before it struck her.

Gov. Mike Pence awarded Jordan with the honor in a private ceremony with her daughters, Lisa Jankowski and Amy Dinwiddie, and brother, Bob Kelley.

Pennington currently serves as the assistant principal at Promise Road Elementary in Noblesville.
