ANDERSON, Ind. -- A longtime Anderson musician was recovering this week after being run over by a car.

Dan Daugherty suffered multiple breaks and fractures and a crushed elbow on his left arm just over a week ago when he was run over on the road in front of his home.

The driver fled the scene, and has yet to be identified.

"I don't know whether someone didn't realize it or got scared," Daugherty said. "It's hard to say. I'm glad someone did stop and got help to get me taken care of."

Daugherty and his wife Tricia own an Anderson music store. Tricia says her husband is diabetic and possibly fell unconscious on the road before he was struck.

Investigators say they have little information to go on.

"They know as little as we do," Tricia said. "Aside from someone coming forward and saying, 'I did this.'"

The extensive injuries to Daugherty's left arm put into question whether he'll be able to play the guitar again.

"That's really the only thing that I ever wanted to do, and I've been playing for 50 years now," he said. "Hopefully I'll be able to play again."

Daugherty says he's unsure how long he'll be in physical therapy, but that he does have feeling in his fingers, which is a good sign.
