Anderson police are still searching for a rifle and other police gear that were stolen from an undercover police SUV.

Wednesday morning, Anderson police executed a search warrant at a house on 21st Street. Two people were found and arrested during the search. Police also found marijuana in various places around the house, 40 grams of cocaine in a cookie jar and 15 grams of heroin on top of a cabinet.

When police returned to their vehicles after the search, they found both of their undercover vehicles -- one car and one SUV -- had been entered, with many things missing, including: a Colt AR-15 rifle, ammunition, tactical body armor, a holster, a gas mask, a rifle case and a first aid kit, along with some personal items of one of the officers.

Witnesses in the area told police that they saw a black Chevy Trailblazer in the area with a man getting out and taking the items from the vehicle. The Trailblazer was seen driving around the block a few times while the theft was taking place.

Witnesses said a woman, the sister of one of the people arrested in the original search of the house, was the lookout while the man stole from the SUV.

The driver of the Trailblazer was identified and later taken into custody. The other person, the man who actually stole the things from the police, has yet to be found.

Police recovered a lot of the stolen items behind Divine Styles and Cuts, a nearby salon, but they haven't recovered the AR-15, the ammunition or a Kevlar helmet.

Police say the SUV was left unlocked under the stress of executing the search warrant.
