INDIANAPOLIS - Indy’s snow force is starting the new year, spending New Year’s Day gearing up for a winter storm. The preps began roughly 11 hours before the forecasted beginning of the snowfall.
Much of central Indiana is under a winter weather advisory through Thursday evening and officials are warning of possibly slick roads and reduced visibility.
The winter weather headed toward Indianapolis already made its way through parts of northern Indiana Wednesday evening. Drivers in South Bend dealt with light snow and areas of drifting snow.
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has dozens of snow plows patrolling highways and interstates. These workers are covering multiple counties and are set to work a 12-hour shift on into the morning.
