Arrest made in Circle K, Village Pantry robberies

Suspect has prior record

CARMEL, Ind. - Police have arrested a man on charges that he robbed two north side gas stations at gunpoint Friday morning.

Jacob Joseph Hansel, 32, of Indianapolis, is facing two Class B felony counts of armed robbery, police said.

Hansel is suspected in the robbery of a Circle K at 10598 College Ave., shortly after midnight Friday.

The cashier told police a man with a gun demanded cash, apologized, then ran away from the store with an unknown amount of money.

The cashier was not hurt, detectives said.

Hansel is also suspected in a second robbery that happened a few blocks south about three hours later.

Police said the Village Pantry at 9601 College Ave., was robbed about 3:18 a.m., and the suspect got away with money from the register.

Authorities found Hansel after a homeowner on Cornerstone Court, near the Circle K, called police because of a suspicious person in the home's backyard.

Officials said Hansel has a prior criminal record -- including drug-related and child molesting charges -- and he was released from jail in March 2012.
