INDIANAPOLIS -- A man has been arrested after allegedly shooting another man over a stolen video game console, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials told Call 6 Investigates Monday.

Christopher Cooksey, 23, is charged with murder after IMPD said he shot 22-year-old Deandre Johnson in the back.

The shooting happened on the afternoon of Aug. 31 in the 3700 block of East Market Street.

Police say a group of people went into a home in the area to confront another group of people over a stolen video game console and TV.

They started fighting, according to police, when the group spilled out of the house and into the street before shots rang out.

When officers arrived on the scene, Johnson was found lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the back.

He was alert and conscious when police arrived, but soon after he passed out. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police said there was at least one child inside the home at the time the fight broke out.
