INDIANAPOLIS - Police have arrested a teenager in the shooting death of another teen on July 8.
Demarcus French, a 16-year-old male, is facing adult charges of murder and possessing a handgun without a permit, police said.
French is accused of killing James Johnson, 16, on the playground of the Hawthorne Place Apartments complex, near 32nd Street and Emerson Avenue.
Court documents suggested that Johnson may have been lured out to the playground through social media.
Investigators found a conversation on Johnson's Facebook page that had ended an hour before he was shot. Documents said the conversation consisted of someone with the profile "MurderManBang" asking Johnson where he was and to come out to the playground.
Detectives later connected the profile to French.
A picture was also sent to Johnson's inbox after he was shot. The picture showed Johnson lying in the mulch with a comment attached to it, the documents said.
Johnson's cousin told police that Johnson and French had been fighting, but the documents did not indicate a possible motive in the case.
