ATF, bomb squad at Hancock Co. shooting

Wife now 'person of interest' in husband's death

CARTHAGE, Ind. - Hancock County Sheriff Mike Shepherd said a woman is now a "person of interest" in the shooting death of her husband.

Shepherd said the case is being investigated as a murder investigation.

ATF agents and bomb squad members were called to investigate Friday after a man was found dead in his home off of South 800 East and 400 South, near Carthage, Ind.

Police were alerted to the death by the man's wife, who was at the house when police arrived and told authorities he had been shot. She was subsequently taken in for questioning.

Police declined to comment on whether they suspected a domestic dispute was involved in the shooting.
