Attempted car theft leads to east-side police chase

INDIANAPOLIS - What started as an attempted car theft ended with two men being put in handcuffs after leading Indianapolis police on an east-side car chase.

Indianapolis police (IMPD) said Wednesday morning, someone called 911 to report at least two people were trying to steal the caller's car, but it appeared something had gone wrong in the attempt, and the thieves got back into their own car and took off.

Police attempted to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop. This kicked off the chase, which ended at roughly 6:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Hilltop Tavern (6500 E. 10th St.).

RTV6's Julie Pursley was there when the two people in the car were being put in handcuffs.
