PIKE COUNTY, Ind. - An attempted murder suspect on the run from police was found hiding behind a gas station in southern Indiana early Friday, investigators said.
Darius A. Hardiman, 21, is accused of shooting Antonio McMullen in the head during an argument on Anderson's southwest side March 17.
Earlier this week, police said they learned that Hardiman may be in the Evansville area, and they tracked him to the Petersburg area Thursday night.
More than 20 officers from several jurisdictions searched for eight hours overnight before finding Hardiman hiding in thick brush behind the Kangaroo Express gas station on State Road 57 on the north side of Petersburg.
Hardiman was arrested without incident on preliminary charges of attempted murder, armed robbery and dealing marijuana.
He is being held in the Pike County Jail awaiting transport back to Anderson.
