JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. - Johnson County law enforcement officials are investigating reports of home improvement fraud.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and the Bargersville Police Department have received reports from the White River Township area about a man who calls himself Joe Peterson.
Officials say Peterson has entered into contracts using the business name “Asphalt Services,” accepted down pavement and then did not perform the work.
The sheriff’s office said the man has also been selling business leads to another, reputable company, and returning after that company has completed the job successfully.
Investigators said Peterson would sell seal-coating services on the new pavement that the reputable company completed work on, collecting fees and not performing the work.
The sheriff’s office said Peterson hands out fliers with a contract header that says “FREE ESTIMATES” underneath the name “Asphalt Services.”
The sheriff’s office wants anyone with information regarding these incidents to call dispatchers at 317-736-5155.
