MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State students and professors are demanding answers about former President Paul Ferguson's resignation.
He left the school after less than 18 months on the job with a severance package of more than $500,000 in taxpayer money.

"He seemed to be very much a faculty's president. He put his money where his mouth was. In his first university speech, he actually put up a scholarship for students," Professor Andy Bean said.
That fondness and the secrecy surrounding Ferguson's departure is behind an effort to reform the way business is conducted.
Professor Dom Caristi has authored a resolution to be presented to the faculty council.
"My salary is public record. The taxpayer has a right to know how his money is being spent. I think the same argument is here when you spend over a half a million dollars in a resignation. Taxpayers have a right to know," Caristi said.
Students on campus think they have a right, too.
"A simple email even. They send us an email to tell us it was happening, why can't they they take another second and send us and tell us why?" Brandon Burgoa said.
"It has led to the spreading of rumors. I'm actually wondering what is actually behind it, maybe there is nothing to be afraid of, but the lack of information is worrisome," Unai Miguel Andres said.
Professor Bruce Frankel wants to change the composition of the Board of Trustees. He believes different voices should be heard.
"I don't know who would apply for a job here until these matters have been resolved. There has been absolutely no effort to find his replacement," Frankel said.
Frankel will present his resolution to the University Senate on Feb. 18. The public is invited to attend.
