MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State University police arrested a school employee Wednesday on charges of possession of child pornography.
Randal R. Schmidt, who worked as a maintenance supervisor for the university, was suspended from his job and barred from campus following a joint investigation with the Indiana State Police Cyber Crime Unit.
University police said a routine review of the school's computer network flagged Schmidt's system. His computer was confiscated on April 4 as part of the investigation.
Schmidt worked at Ball State for 20 years.
Police said it didn't appear Schmidt's activities involved anyone else connected with the university.
