INDIANAPOLIS -- The chair of the Ivy Tech presidential search committee says former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard is one of 17 people who has submitted a resume, or expressed the intent to do so.
The news comes one week after Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann announced her resignation to seek the job.
Ballard told Ivy Tech's consultant he plans to submit his resume for the job, according to Michael Dora, the chairman of the search committee.
The consultant has reached out to 130 people who could be potential candidates.
Ellspermann is one of them. She told reporters last week the job is a "better seat on the bus" for her at the same time Gov. Pence announced he is nominating Eric Holcomb to replace her.

Ellspermann has not yet set a date for her resignation.
Despite growing competition for the job, Gov. Pence maintains Ellspermann is the best candidate.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the kind of renewed leadership at Ivy Tech that will help refocus the state's largest post secondary institution on that core mission in making sure we have the best skilled workforce in America, and I truly believe Sue Ellspermann is the best prepared, the best qualified to do that," Pence said.
Dora said the committee anticipates hiring a new president by the end of April. The target start date is late June or early July.
