INDIANAPOLIS - One state lawmaker is sponsoring a bill to ban fake Twitter pages and other social media accounts involving teachers and school employees.

Republican Rep. Todd Huston of Hamilton County is sponsoring a bill that would make it a crime to set up a fake social media profile with malicious intent.

Huston believes the proposed bill would take steps toward curbing the cyberbullying of teachers and other school employees.

Huston said he wrote the bill after he heard of rumors being spread about teachers, in several school districts, through fake Twitter accounts.

The Twitter accounts often contained the name and likeness of the teachers.
