INDIANAPOLIS -- Bishop Chatard High School opened its chapel Wednesday morning for those staying close to home, and in need of a place to go for comfort and counsel after learning about the death of theater teacher Kyle Guyton.
Guyton was helping chaperone a group of 22 students on a school trip across Europe.
They were in Poland Tuesday when Guyton -- who has asthma -- started complaining that he did not feel well.
According to Deacon Rick Wagner, at one point, Guyton was struggling to breathe.
Attempts by emergency responders to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
Wagner says this is a huge loss for the school.
Guyton is a 2011 graduate of Bishop Chatard and had just joined the staff this year.
"He loved theater. He loved introducing students to theater and getting them involved, and so in a very short time he had already done two different productions and gotten kids engaged," Wagner said.
The group who was traveling in Europe is on their way home.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced, but a prayer service in honor of Guyton was scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m. in the school gymnasium.
The chapel will be open again Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
