MADISON COUNTY, Ind. - A blind schnauzer dumped in the Madison County countryside, forced to live on his own for weeks, has been adopted.

The Madison County Humane Society told RTV6 that the schnauzer was adopted Sunday by an Illinois couple.

The couple’s daughter, who is a nurse at Community North, saw the story about the schnauzer on RTV6.

"This lovely couple has always had schnauzers," said Susie Schieve of the Madison County Humane Society. "We thank you so much for your caring help."

The dog was discovered last month severely matted, in pain and barely able to walk. A veterinarian shaved him down and vaccinated the dog.

No word yet on what the Illinois couple will name the schnauzer.
