ANDERSON, Ind. - Investigators said they are looking into the suspicious death of a man whose decomposed body has been found inside an Anderson home.
Anderson police Sgt. William Casey says the body was found Sunday after a person went to the house on the city's south side to collect rent or mortgage payments. The person saw several notes on the front door, smelled an odor and called police.
The body was discovered inside the front door next to a living room area.
Casey tells The Herald Bulletin that the house was immaculately kept on the inside, with several vehicles and a boat parked there. But he says a car that was missing is one that neighbors said he wouldn't let anyone else drive. This led investigators to suspect foul play.
Neighbor Mary Jo Sink says she last saw the man in late December and thought he had gone to Florida for the winter.
