INDIANAPOLIS -- Police say crews pulled what appears to be a man's torso from the White River Sunday morning.

Just before 9 a.m., officers responded to North White River Parkway West Drive and West New York Street on a call of a body found in the river.

The Indianapolis Fire Department removed the body and brought it to the banks of the river.

On Tuesday, police identified the victim as 44-year-old James Rice.

Police said a cause and manner of death for Rice still hadn't been determined.

Detectives say a tattoo on the victim's back reads "Only God Can Judge Me." They are hoping that someone may recognize the tattoo.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Homicide Detective Charles Benner at 317-327-3311.
