BOONE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Boone County Economic Development Corporation has submitted five sites to be considered for Amazon’s second headquarters.

The proposed sites are all part of a large, regional effort that is working bring Amazon to Indiana.

“We have been working with the Indy chamber to submit a regional proposal for the area,” said Molly Whitehead, Boone County Economic Development Executive Director.

The five locations that were submitted are not being released at this time.

“We look forward to working with our partners in the Indy region to leverage the best our area has to offer in an effort to attract Amazon to locate their headquarters here,” said Whitehead.

The proposal takes several factors into account, such as quality of life, walkability and the size of proposed sites.

The Mayor of Lebanon, Matt Gentry, said the city is working with the Boone County Economic Development Corporation.

“A facility of this size and scope would be a massive game changer not just for Lebanon, but the entire Midwest," said Mayor Gentry.

“Amazon is no stranger to Boone County,”  Whitehead said. “In, fact, Whitestown, Indiana’s fastest growing community for six straight years, is home to an Amazon fulfillment center.”

Now that Boone County has joined the regional effort, leaders feel strong about the possibility of securing the large corporation.

“We are confident in our ability to compete with any region across the country based on our business-friendly environment, talented workforce and quality of life," said Whitehead.
