BROWNSBURG, Ind. -- A Brownsburg High School senior is fighting for his life after he was critically injured in a crash over the weekend.

Matthew Turk's coaches joined his family at Methodist Hospital on Monday as they prayed for him.

A crash on Sunday sent the 18-year-old to the hospital in critical condition. Police say the vehicle was heading east on County Road 500 N. when the driver, a 17-year-old, lost control and hit a tree.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.

Turk is a senior and plays on Brownsburg's football team.

And for their sectional game on Friday, his teammates plan to wear a decal on their helmets with Turk's number, 8, and the phrase "Matt Turk Strong" written on the back.
