BROWNSBURG, Ind. -- A Brownsburg teen accused of trying to join ISIS will remain in Federal custody.
Akram Musleh, 18, had his first court appearance on Friday, after being indicted on terrorism charges earlier this month.
He pled not guilty to those charges.
The government argued that Musleh should not go free before his trial because he is a flight risk.
When he was arrested by the FBI in June, they say he was trying to leave the area on a greyhound bus.
Prosecutors say Musleh had booked a one-way trip to Morocco and was planning to join ISIS.
Musleh’s next court date is October 7.
The US Attorney says his office is involved in daily and weekly calls involving national security.
He would not say how people are currently under surveillance other than to confirm that they are monitoring people.
