Bus fire backs up interstate

No injuries reported

A bus fire on Interstate 69 on Monday afternoon caused a major traffic back-up.

The bus, from Ball State, caught fire in the southbound lanes of I-69 near the 208 mile marker in Fishers.

The driver was the only person on the bus, and he got out safely.

A school spokesman said the driver smelled smoke and pulled over to the side of the road. The bus was en route to pick up a student group from the airport.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the bus is a total loss.
