INDIANAPOLIS - Butler University police confirmed this week they are investigating a possible rape at a campus residence hall on Sunday.
BUPD Chief Benjamin Hunter released an alert on Monday about a report of the forcible rape of a student on campus.
According to the release, the rape occurred at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday at a residence hall. The victim told police the suspect may have used force in another alleged sexual assault on campus that had previously been unreported.
Hunter said the suspect had been identified, and the case was being investigated by IMPD with BUPD assistance.
"The university takes reported cases of sexual assault seriously," Hunter said.
In December, BUPD said it was investigating allegations that a male campus tour guide had raped a female guide.
BUPD detectives said they had gathered evidence in that case, which had been handed over to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office.
