INDIANAPOLIS -- A candle placed too close to a sofa was the cause of a house fire that broke out early Tuesday morning.

The fire started around 2 a.m. at a single-story house on the 1200 block of Illinois Street.

Fire crews said smoke detectors alerted one of the people living in the house of the fire. All four people -- and multiple dogs -- were able to escape without injury.

The fire caused about $25,000 in damage to the house.
