FISHERS, Ind. - Crews shut down a lane of Interstate 69 early Saturday morning after a car carrying radioactive material crashed near Fishers.
Hamilton County dispatchers told RTV6 sometime after 4 a.m., a single-vehicle crash drew crews to southbound I-69 near mile marker 211 (near the Campus Parkway exit), closing down one lane for cleanup.
Dispatchers said the driver is a nuclear lab technician who was carrying radioactive materials inside the car at the time of the wreck, however nothing was spilled and officials said there was no hazard in the area.
Crews said they closed the highway to ensure the material inside the car was not compromised.
