INDIANAPOLIS - Young professionals looking for happiness at work are thriving in Indianapolis, according to a new report.
CareerBliss.com ranked the Circle City fourth on its list of the happiest cities for young professionals, which the career website defines as those with less than 10 years of experience in a fulltime job.
CareerBliss based its list on an analysis of more than 38,000 employee reviews of 10 work happiness factors, including work-life balance, compensation, company culture and company reputation.
California leads the list with Los Angeles, San Jose and Sunnyvale as Nos. 1-3 and San Diego at No. 5, while Indianapolis is the only Midwestern city recognized.
CareerBliss co-founder Heidi Golledge said happiness is more important than money to young professionals.
"We have found that a positive company culture, which focuses on overall happiness and not just compensation, is key for young professionals," she said in a news release. "We have cities ranking higher, even though some are paying less, because they offer a happier life for employees who chose to live and work there."
