CARMEL, Ind. -- It appears you won't be required to use your turn signals when driving through roundabouts in Carmel after all.

The Carmel City Council rejected a proposal Monday that would slap a $100 fine on drivers who didn't use their signals in a roundabout.

Jeff Worrell, one of three members of the Finance, Utilities and Rules Committee, said he voted against the proposal last Thursday.

Worrell said using signals in roundabouts isn't practical and the proposed fine was too high.

He also said he's received more negative feedback about the idea than anything else he's been involved with on the council.
