INDIANAPOLIS – Dozens of families in need were granted the opportunity to shop for their own clothing items Saturday morning thanks to students from Carmel High School.

The school’s Design CHS organization created a “Street Store” pop-up shopping experience for individuals experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis.

The third annual event was held at Metropolitan Baptist Center where free clothes and hot food were handed out.

Students said they wanted to give those who couldn't afford to go shopping the same experience as going to a retailer.

“I think it's a really good way to give back to the community and just do something to make other people happy,” said Carly Chia, student at Carmel High School.

The students began collecting donations in the fall, and in past years, the event was able to help over 200 families in need.
