Carmel named best place to live in the U.S. by Niche

CARMEL, Ind. – The best place to live in the U.S. is right here in Indiana, according to new data. Carmel was ranked No. 1 on Niche.com’s 2017 Best Places to Live in America list.

The list was compiled based on the ratings of crime, public schools, cost of living, job opportunities, and local amenities.

With about 85,000 people, Carmel is bordered between 146 Street and 96th Street to the north and south, and South 1200 E to River Road at the east and west.

The median household income in the city is $106,443, according to Niche.com, with 88 percent of residents holding a college degree.

Niche.com gave Carmel an overall grade of an A+ based on a variety of factors listed below.
