CARMEL, Ind. - Carmel police shot a man who they said was involved in a domestic dispute in a subdivision near 96th Street and Ditch Road early Monday.
Dispatchers said just before 3:30 a.m., shots were fired at a home in the 10000 block of Cedar Ridge Place near the Marion-Hamilton County line.
A woman told police her ex-boyfriend, Aaron David, 25, of Indianapolis, called her and said he was going to kill her and her current boyfriend, investigators said.
As police were taking the report, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of David's vehicle in the area. Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver, later identified as David, refused to stop.
After a short chase, police said David jumped out of the vehicle and continued to walk down the street into a cul-de-sac.
When police finally caught up with David, officers said they saw he was holding a gun and ordered him several times to drop it.
Police said officers shot David in the chest and the abdomen after he refused to drop the gun. He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Residents in the Cedar Ridge neighborhood said the sight of more than a dozen police cars surrounding the home was unusual for the upscale community, RTV6's Kara Kenney reported.
