Carmel teen: Man in 'junky' van asked me to 'get in'

Police investigate report of abduction attempt

CARMEL, Ind. - Carmel police are investigating a report of an attempted abduction outside a restaurant.

Investigators said a 14-year-old girl told them the incident happened about 6 p.m. Tuesday near the MCL Cafeteria on Keystone Way.

"She reported that the van was driving without any lights on and when it passed her, the driver said, 'Come here, get in,'" Carmel police said in a posting on Facebook. "She said that she yelled 'no' and ran."

Police said the girl told them that the driver of the van did not follow her.

The girl described the van as older and "junky," police said. It was dark blue or black in color.

The girl told police that the driver was an older white man with a "fat face" and a gray beard.

Police asked anyone with information to call them at 317-571-2500.
