INDIANAPOLIS -- Dozens of workers who clocked in for the last time at Indianapolis’ Carrier plant on Thursday got a chance to leave their mark on one of the products they helped produce.

Over 300 workers were either left or were laid off in the first of two rounds of layoffs at west side plant.

As workers prepared to walk out the door for the last time, they autographed one of the units that they helped to build. That unit will be put on display along with three other units marking milestones at the plant, including the one celebrating the company’s 1 millionth furnace.

The second and final round of layoffs is scheduled to take place three days before Christmas.
